Started in 2015, CAFEUNO is a group of small cooperatives located in the southern part of the country, in the El Paraíso region near the Nicaraguan border. It's managed by Williams Alexander Romero Gradiz, a fourth-generation farmer himself. Williams oversees seven CAFEUNO employees and more than 150 contributing farmers.
Like in other parts of Central America, a major challenge in El Paraíso is the aging farmer population. CAFEUNO has responded with programs for young producers, who are increasingly committed to improving quality each growing season.
